Principal’s Report
Over the past few weeks, we have had the opportunity to celebrate both staff and students and it has been a highlight!
As you may be aware Mrs Ange Gay has been nominated and short listed in the 2023 Australian Education Awards for the prestigious School Principal of the Year (2022) for a Government School. Mrs Gay is one of seven nominees in this category. I know that the Young North school community will join with me in congratulating Ange on her nomination.
Over the past three weeks we have recognised our students for their excellence and achievements inside and outside the classroom. Our school assemblies provide the forum for recognising our achievements. A reminder that assemblies are held the same weeks each term: week 3 - K-2; week 4 – Years 3-6; week 5 - Recognition; week 8 - K-2; week 9 – Years 3-6; and week 10 – Recognition.
Over the past 5 weeks, 10 boys from stage 3 have participated in the Boys To The Bush program and 10 girls have participated in the Girls To The Country program. The organisers of these two programs have spoken very highly of the participants. It warms my heart knowing that these students have been given an opportunity that they have embraced.
Over the past few weeks our students have had many opportunities to perform on the sporting field. We congratulate Georgia Wheeler, Jack Hunt, Braxdyn Cross and Lateisha Charles as age champions from the Young PSSA Athletics and Georgia Wheeler and Braxdyn Cross from the Young PSSA Cross Country. Congratulations to all students who represented YNPS at these events. You were all great ambassadors.
This week 35 of our stage 3 students represented YNPS at Mortimer Shield in Young. All students were great ambassadors for the school, showing respect for themselves, their peers and the opposition.
Last newsletter I announced that our dance team was successful in their quest of joining the Riverina Dance Festival. This Friday they travel to Wagga Wagga to perform their item which they performed at the Recognition Assembly last Friday. The dance team have been working extremely hard to polish their item and I look forward to seeing their hard work pay off.
Last week we began our Early Bird program, welcoming prospective students for our 2024 Kinder class. If you are aware of any students eligible to start school in 2024, please encourage them to call in at school and make enquiries. Our doors are always open for prospective new students.
On another positive note, we would like to thank the Young District Anglers Association for the kind donation they made to YNPS this week. (Please see photo below). We are very appreciative and happy they came to visit.
I look forward to continue leading YNPS through to the end of the term and hope to catch up with many more of you as the term progresses.
Kind regards
